San Jose Earthquakes beat Los Angeles Galaxy in reserve game - San Jose Mercury News

SAN JOSE -- Recently acquired midfielder Mehdi Ballouchy scored early and Turkish forward Sercan Guvenisik added a late goal Tuesday as the Earthquakes reserves defeated the Los Angeles Galaxy 2-0 at San Jose's practice field.

The Quakes (4-2-2 in reserve play) held off an L.A. team that used former World Cup striker Edson Buddle and Sweden international Christian Wilhelmsson, who is trying out with the Galaxy.

Ballouchy, a former Santa Clara University star, headed in the game winner in the ninth minute on a play in front of the net. Guvenisik scored in the 80th minute -- his sixth Reserve League goal this season -- off an assist from midfielder Khari Stephenson.

The Earthquakes play Mexican club San Luis FC on Thursday night in an exhibition at Buck Shaw Stadium.
