The Sharks continue to be in the hunt if Phoenix Coyotes captain Shane Doan decides the team's future in the Arizona desert is too uncertain, his agent said Sunday night.

"Yes, very much so," responded agent Terry Bross in an email after being asked if San Jose was still on Doan's list of potential landing spots. "He is very intrigued should things not work out here."

Doan, 35, is arguably the most sought after free agent still on the market. He has spent the last two weeks trying to get a sense as to the likelihood that a group led by former Sharks CEO Greg Jamison will be successful in its efforts to buy the team and keep it in suburban Glendale, Ariz.

Bross has indicated that several other teams are also under consideration, and there have been reports that both the Sharks and Los Angeles Kings have offers on the table. The Vancouver Canucks also are thought to be in the running, as Doan's wife is from British Columbia and he has business interests there.

Sharks general manager Doug Wilson has not confirmed San Jose's interest in Doan, standing by his usual policy of not discussing conversations he may or may not be having with other teams about certain players.
